The Living Podcast
A simple rhythm for everyday life, the living podcast.
Each episode guides you through an ancient practice of prayer called Lectio Divina — a way of listening to God through Scripture that has shaped the Church for centuries.
This isn’t about rushing to insight or information.
It’s about creating space to be with God… and to listen.
Each day includes:
- A brief invitation and practice of presence.
- Four movements through a short passage of Scripture.
- Quiet moments for reflection and prayer.
- A closing blessing to carry with you into your day.
You can listen in the morning, during a commute, or in the evening as you wind down. There’s no right way to do this — just come as you are.

Welcome back to the living, a space created to help you encounter God in your everyday life, be with Him, and find life right where you are. Today is Sunday, March 22nd. And during this Lenten season, Sundays are different. Sundays are about feasting. Even as we walk toward the cross during Lent, every Sunday reminds us of something central to our faith. That Jesus is alive. And because he's alive, sorrow is never the end of the story. Today, I simply want you to take a simple breath in and gently exhale. And as you breathe this morning, simply remind yourself: Christ is risen. Hope is alive. Let's take another deep breath in and exhale. Christ is risen. Hope is alive. On Sundays, we're reminded of the resurrection. I invite you to listen to these words from John 16, verse 20 through 22. Jesus is speaking to his disciples about what is to come. He says this, very truly I tell you, you will weep and mourn while the world rejoices. You will grieve, but your grief will turn to joy. A woman giving birth to a child has pain because her time has come, but when her baby is born, she forgets the anguish because of her joy that a child is born into the world. So with you, now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy. Notice the promise that your grief will turn to joy. In this moment, the disciples don't yet understand what Jesus means. They will soon experience the sorrow of the cross, confusion, loss, grief, but Jesus already knows what's coming next. Resurrection, the story of Jesus, has a shape to it. There's sorrow, but then there's joy. There's loss, but then there's life. And that pattern continues to shape our lives today. Because Jesus is alive. We know something the disciples didn't yet know in that moment. That joy is coming. So with that, let's take a moment to practice gratitude. I invite you to name five gratitudes in your life today. They don't have to be dramatic. Simple gifts can count. Think back at your week and think of five ways that God has been good and given you joy. Lord, we give you thanks. Now, let's close with a word of prayer and prepare for our week ahead. Jesus, thank you that our sorrow is never the final chapter. Because you are alive, hope lives in every moment of our lives. As we step into this new week, help us walk with quiet confidence that you are working even when we cannot yet see it. Fill our hearts with the joy that comes from knowing you and the resurrection. We pray these things in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen. Today, celebrate the reality that Jesus is alive. Go in his presence, rest in his love. This is the living. We'll continue tomorrow.
